when to visit

You are coming to mountains, which means you should be ready for surprises from mother nature. One can visit all through the year provided the person has the right set of clothing and accessories. Rains, sunshine and clouds can come and go anytime. Every month in the mountains has its own charm.

Springs, from March to April is a great time to visit the Palampur valley. Having just crossed the peak winters, days are warm and sweet essence of winters is still there in the evenings. Fruit trees start to bloom with different color of flowers, views of snowcapped mountains is clear and beautiful. In some kilometers you can enter the rhododenderon jungles where trees turn red with rhododenderon flowers blooming.
Because you are at the Northern Tea Capital of India, you may know April tea is considered the best tea. Do not forget to have a factory visit and experience the taste of one of the finest quality tea available.
Bonfires in the evenings are still required if you plan to sit outisde. And room heaters are still on to make your nights warm.

Summers, from May to July is a great time to escape the terrible summers of the plains. This being the peak season, places are flooded with tourists and you might want to book your itinerary well in advance. Though our fruit trees are still too young but few of them have already started bearing fruits- apples/pears/plum/peaches/figs/strawberries/mulberries/almonds/cherries to name a few.

Monsoons, from July to September, this time of the year mountains are lushgreens and at times it rains all through the day. Mountains look gorgeous. It is great time to catch up with books and family. Treks are not recommended as mountains get slippery. Land slides are not common. Once here, you are in heaven. Just to make you aware, the property this time of the year has leeches, which are not harmful, and honestly not even painful, if by any chance you get some around your foot. Just to give a little bit of relief, getting sucked by a leech in ancient times was considered a kind of therapy and is still in practice.

Autumn September to November, mountains start turning brown and trees start preparing themselves for winters. The lush green mountains become raw and still, tough and beautiful. It is a great time to go for village walks and see clear views of mountain ranges. Para gliding finally starts after a long monsoon break, so you can have that experience too.

Winters from November to February
It is cold. Gradually the brown mountains start turning to white. If lucky, we can have snow in the property as well. With proper gears and guide its a great time for small hike to reach snow. Bonfires are amazing in the evening and snuggling into cozy blankets with a book and our coffee can beĀ  the sole goals.
